AIF 101

A series of articles on the basics of Interactive Fiction authorship, with an eye towards Adult Interactive Fiction.

These are a series of articles I initially posted to the usenet group, a group devoted to Adult Interactive fiction. While my focus was more on AIF theory and authorship, there were also some elements of coding present as well.

The most efficient way to apply these lessons is to participate. Create a game while you are reading it. These lessons are aimed at the programmer who wants to complete an AIF project, but doesn't really know how to go about doing it.

The following topics are covered.

  1. Brainstorming

  2. Plotting

  3. Characters

  4. Events

  5. Dialogue

  6. Mapping

  7. Coding

  8. Betatesting

  9. Polish
